Holiday on a hill sheep farm in the heart of the Trossachs
Ledard Farm Cottage at Kinlochard, near Aberfoyle is situated right in the middle of the loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, facing onto Loch Ard and the Queen Elizabeth Forest and in the shadow of the mountain Ben Lomond.
The cottage is on the steading of a working hill sheep farm, made famous by Sir Walter Scott in his novel “Rob Roy”. The farm is home to the Scottish Sheepdog School and is the venue for regular musical events in MacGregor’s Barn.
There is accommodation in the cottage for four persons in two upstairs double-bedrooms looking onto the loch, with two twin-bedded bothies opposite which are ideal for teenagers available at an extra cost for a further four persons. Downstairs is a modern kitchen with electric cooker, dishwasher, and fridge and living-room which is loch-facing with a log burning stove (firewood provided) and freeview TV. Wifi is also available.
The cottage is adjacent to Forest Hills Hotel and Leisure Centre. Access to the pool, trim gym, steam room and spa is available to cottage guests on a daily basis(£7.50 for adults, £5.50 for children) There is also a water sports centre, Go Country with canoes, mountain bikes, and fishing boats available in addition to a water park.
The farm has a clay pigeon range, historical farm tours every week, and fishing available on our loch frontage. A wild flower garden with its own waterfall is available exclusively to cottage guests. The hill walk to Ben Venue is in the farm’s ground. A barbeque unit is available for cottage guests. There is parking for two cars.
The village of Aberfoyle is four miles from the farm with restaurants, bars and shops. The City of Stirling with its famous castle is 35 minutes by car or bus. Glasgow(45 minutes) and Edinburgh(90 minutes) can be easily accessed by car or bus.
